Until Women Practice Leadership, There Will be Few

By Monica L. Dashwood

As the old saying goes, practice makes perfect and this certainly holds true for women aspiring to be leaders.  Everyday, we see the need for women leaders all around the world.  We see it in the poverty, the illiteracy, the injustice, the inequality, in the extreme violence imposed on men, women and children.  Now more than ever, we need exceptional women leaders to bring opportunity, balance, collaboration, economic equality, compassion and peace to this one precious life.

For women to meet these immediate demands, they must undergo skilled training and find time to practice the art of leadership.  Hours and days and years of practice.  It takes women like yourself to be willing to try and fail, speak the truth, fight for your beliefs and the rights of others.  In short, you need to be willing to be vulnerable  and courageous in the face of adversity, two of the most powerful traits found in visionary leaders.

This is why I am blogging about WGLI (Women's Global Leadership Initiative) Upcoming Core Leadership Series, a program made up of five one-day Saturday sessions over 3 months that help women develop their leadership abilities in their careers and their community.  WGLI's carefully developed program enables women to clarify their personal and professional purpose and vision.  Each participant is provided with the tools needs for their unique vision of success.  In addition to identifying personal values and convictions, participants acquire the leadership skills, mentorship, and community project guidance necessary to affect positive change.

CORE LEADERSHIP SERIES: Saturdays, February 23, March 9 & 23, April 6 & 20 at Empire College (3035 Cleveland Ave. Santa Rosa, CA)

This workshop will help you recognize your core values and leadership style.  Participants will gain an in depth understanding of personal and professional development and build self worth and professional competency through strengthening communication and organizational skills.
